Nicole Johnston (Teaching Assistant)
Hello! My name is Nicole Johnston, and I will be your teacher assistant this year.
I have a degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University and have worked with a variety of ages, including 5th grade, as an Asst. Director at a tutoring center, and as a Preschool Teacher. I grew up in Michigan and moved down to Charlotte in 1999. My husband is also from Michigan, and we have 3 children at MICS, Jack (4th), Alexandra (2nd) and Walker (K). I am excited to be able to work with your children, and for our fun year ahead!
Ashley Hodnett (EC Teacher)
I am originally from a small town called Fillmore, NY, located south of Buffalo. I attended Fillmore Central School (a PreK-12 grade school, in one building!) for 13 years, graduating in 2003. I then moved on to St. John Fisher College, in Rochester NY, where I pursued my career in Childhood and Special Education. I also received my Master's degree in Childhood Literacy from St. Bonaventure University. I taught Third Grade in China Grove and for the last three years, I was a Reading Specialist at Huntersville Elementary. This year, however, I will begin as an EC Teacher at MICS. I have many interests that keep me outside which makes the weather in NC very desirable to me. I love biking, hiking, traveling, and running. I recently finished my first half marathon! I am committed to each and every child, and strive to bring forth both personal and academic growth and excellence. I'm looking forward to a great school year.
